Incredible Japan - 10 Lessons To Learn From A Grieving But Great Nation!
Find below what we can learn from the Japanese, and comments from one of my close friends in Japan.
1. THE CALM!
Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.
[Correct, still there are many missing people. Even their bodies have not been found. Have you seen a picture in BBC? A middle aged woman is crying and repeatedly saying "I am sorry for having been unable to save your life" by holding her father's fingers appearing on the ground and the rest of his body are under the ground. And more sad story]
2. THE DIGNITY!
Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
[Correct]
3. THE ABILITY!
The incredible architects, for instance. Many Buildings swayed but didn't fall.
[Correct]
4. THE GRACE!
People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.
[I do not know, but I guess so.]
5. THE ORDER!
No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
[Correct]
6. THE SACRIFICE!
Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
[Correct. They are workers of TEPCO. Many workers of TEPCO have not come back to their home since the earthquake]
7. THE TENDERNESS!
Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.
[Correct. Many restaurants serve foods at free of charge as far as they have food staff. There are many free kitchens in the region. Even Japanese mafia "Yakuza" operates free kitchens.]
8. THE TRAINING!
The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.
[I do not know, not sure...]
9. THE MEDIA!
They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.
[I do not know. But overseas Medias made many silly and exaggerated reports.]
10. THE CONSCIENCE!
When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly.
[Correct, no trouble has been observed.]
